Next on our itinerary was the second of the lake towns – Wanaka. The youth hostel is again the best stay option here in Wanaka, having a mini-auditorium, activity area and a lovely sit-out for the evenings. The town has a small yet very vibrant and cozy centre and is beautifully located just at Lake Wanaka, offering amazing views on the lake and the surrounding mountains. Situated on the foot hills of Mount Aspiring National Park, the long-stretched out Lake Wanaka is locally known as the prettiest of New Zealand many lakes, and our lake view Youth Hostel was perfect for a few days of exploring this quaint little lake town.
