The road stretch from the backwaters all the way up to hill-town of Munnar is driving delight. Roads are lined with pendulous white flowers known as angels’ trumpets, and tall trees draped in vines and mist host Malabar squirrels. The overlapping hills of tea plantations, which seem to go on forever, are covered in an electric-green carpet of bushes that look like fluffy clouds. Enchanting mist, clad hills, quaint cottages, fragrant tea gardens and mist-draped mornings are hallmarks of Munnar. This ‘Tea Heaven’ of India produces about 105 of the country’s tea, often served black, its flavour subtle and nuanced. We got the insight in the entire process when we visited the Tata’s Tea Estate, which is one of the best options among hundreds of big & small tea estates in this region.
