Introduction of the Traveloholic

Colonel Ashish Raisinghani

Colonel Ashish Raisinghani served in the Indian Armed Forces for more than 28 years and travelling is one of his primary passions in life. His service with the Army gave him lot of opportunities to travel and see new places. He has been travelling since he was a kid, the ‘Travel Bug’ been transferred to him from his parents who themselves have been avid travellers. He has done a number of Backpacking Trips and Road Journeys, some with his friends, few on his own, with his wife and even with his small daughter. He loves to see new places, meet new people & learn everything about that place — his area of expertise being Budget Trip Planning & Motorcycle Expeditions. He does not prefer organized tours & package trips, and feels the true essence of travelling lies in experiencing that place with the locals, living & eating like locals in the bargain. He has covered almost entire India and more than 45 odd countries across the globe, but his quest has not ended, in fact his hunger for Travel keeps increasing with each trip.

The Colonel has even induced the Travel Bug to his wife, as well as to his young daughter as well. They have been travelling as a family now both within India and abroad, and their daughter has already visited more than fifteen countries in her initial years, which included backpacking trip to Europe when she was 15 months old and a bike trip to Bhutan when she was just 6 months old. An established Travel Blogger, he has been penning down his own travel experiences in form of travelogues since last almost 20 years in his Travel Blog. These travelogues cover not only his own trip experience in detail, but also give an insight about the place along with few practical tips for fellow travellers to plan their trip to the same region or place. Thirteen of these personal travel experiences have been compiled in his maiden travel book named “Confessions of a Traveloholic” which was published in 2019. His First Book was reviewed by none other than Mr Amitabh Bachchan with a full-page review forming part of the book. The book has been a Best Seller and has received immense appreciation and positive reviews from readers across the country.

Over the last seven years, Colonel Ashish Raisinghani has been involved in a number of literary events and book fairs at various locations in the country. He has been participating in varied kinds of these events, giving out talks, having interactive sessions, conducting panel discussions and motivating others by introducing them with the core essence of travelling and its inherent advantages. His motivating talks and interactive sessions have been received extremely well among the audience of all age groups, wherein the Colonel has attempted to induce the aspects of travelling as the most effective form of learning. The officer’s participation in all the literary events is not only on a personal capacity, but he has also been invited for interactive sessions and panel discussions as a guest speaker by few reputed clubs such as Poona Club, Rotary Clubs and various Army Institutes as well as Educational Institutes. His book has been showcased at events such as World Book Fair, State and City level book fairs all across country, Literature Festivals at Pune, Jaipur, Tezpur, Guwahati etc. He has participated in the prestigious New Delhi World Book Fair consecutively for four successive years now. The highlights among his participations in various talks and literary sessions have been the ‘International Confluence of Eminent People at Holistic Insight Forum’ at New Delhi, his motivational talk at Jaipur Rotary Club, Author’s Interaction at Pune Book Fair and being the main moderator-cum-panelist at New Delhi World Book Fair on the topic “A Journey Within and Outward through Literature”.

Apart from being an Avid Traveller, the officer has been a Passionate Motorcyclist also, and riding a bike comes to him almost as easy and essential as breathing oxygen. It has been a journey of evolution for Colonel Ashish Raisinghani, from a ‘biking enthusiast’ to a ‘riding fanatic’, and finally into a ‘motorcycling addict’. When he started his journey on his initial Yamaha YBX, then upgraded to RE Thunderbird and now dwelled on to RE Himalayan, he had never thought that he would be able to, not only ride himself to such extents, but to also organise curated road trips for others. The officer has a passion for organising self-planned Motorcycle Rides / Road Trips, which he has been doing over past more than 10–12 years now. All these road trips have been personally planned, curated and organised after extensive research & preparations, and by going in extreme details about trip planning that comes very naturally to him. That was the primary reason he has kept the theme of his Second Book — ‘Confessions of a Renegade Rider’, dedicated towards these ‘Motorcycling Trips’ which he has undertaken over past more than 10 years.
